Healing That Goes Deeper Than Talking

When the Past Won't Stay in the Past

Trauma doesn't always look the way people expect.

Sometimes it looks like flashbacks and nightmares. Just as often it looks like a body that never relaxes, a mind that never stops scanning, anger that arrives out of nowhere, numbness where feelings used to be, or relationships that keep hitting the same wall.

Whether it began with a single event or built over years — an accident, an assault, a loss, childhood experiences, a betrayal, or a season of life that simply asked too much — trauma changes how your brain and body respond to the world. Talking about it matters. But for many people, talking alone doesn't reach it.

That is why our practice specializes in therapies designed specifically for trauma.

How EMDR Works

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one of the most researched trauma treatments available. It helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their grip — the memory remains, but the panic, shame, and intrusion attached to it fade.

You don't have to retell every detail of what happened for EMDR to work, which is one reason many people who feel stuck in talk therapy find relief here.

Alongside EMDR, our counselors are trained in Brainspotting, which uses your field of vision to access and release trauma held beneath conscious awareness, and Somatic Experiencing, which works with the way trauma lives in the body — tension, shutdown, and the survival responses that never got to complete.

Your counselor will recommend the approach, or combination, that fits you.

What to Expect in Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy at our practice moves at your pace. The first phase is stabilization — building safety, coping skills, and trust before any processing begins. Nothing is forced and nothing is rushed.

From there, you and your counselor will work through the memories and patterns keeping you stuck, using the approaches above. The final phase is integration: reconnecting with your life, your relationships, and the parts of yourself trauma put on hold.

Trauma treatment is central to our practice. Dr. Randi Gray built this team around trauma-informed care, and our counselors hold advanced training in EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, and certified clinical trauma work.

Counseling is private pay. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
