Julie Fortuna, LAC, NCC, CCTP

My greatest intention is to work with Teens, Young Adults, Women and Children, suffering from Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Anger Management, Grief and Loss, Self-Esteem challenges, and Past Traumatic Experiences, with ways to achieve increased overall wellness and recovery, so they can feel empowered in their life to heal, grow, and safely move forward.

I believe that within each person lies a powerful, resilient spirit, regardless of life’s circumstances.  Self- awareness, and self-compassion are important elements in any healing process. I partner with clients to draw on self-compassion as we work to examine goals and meet those together.

As a trauma informed counselor, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I feel a reverence and a sacred trust to be able to partner with individuals on their healing journey. I use EMDR (the most researched and regarded healing intervention for PTSD).

In addition to EMDR, I bring in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Self-Compassion, and Play Therapy, as best suites each situation and need.

I obtained a Bachelors in Elementary Education from BYU Provo, and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bradley University, in Illinois.

As a mother of 7 grown children, and having been married for 31 years, I am aware of how relations with others enter into every part of life. I also know that family life can be incredibly challenging. Because of this, things such as increased self-esteem, decreased anxiety and depression, interpersonal relationship skills, and increased clarity of purpose, are so important. I want to help individuals feel empowered to make the most of their lives.
